I’ve been hearing all about smart thermostats from all my friends and family.
- Everyone has raving reviews about them, and it’s all I can but admire them from a distance.
If I lived in my own home, then I would definitely purchase my own smart thermostat, because I’ve heard nothing but great things. However, I live in an apartment and I’m not allowed to install anything new. I considered installing a smart thermostat without telling the apartment complex’s management system, but it was on the expensive side and I didn’t know the first thing about installing a thermostat. I assumed that if I called an HVAC professional to install the new smart thermostat, it would look suspicious when he came into the apartment. I also knew that I’d never be able to uninstall it myself. I only rented the apartment, so it didn’t make financial sense for me to purchase and install an expensive smart thermostat when I didn’t own the place. I also didn’t have any control over the HVAC system for my apartment. Management was in charge of hiring HVAC professionals to come service all the HVAC systems for the entire complex. Keeping this in mind, it didn’t make sense for me to install a smart thermostat because I didn’t think I’d reap the benefits. A smart thermostat was known for lowering energy costs, but you still had to have a good HVAC system for that to work. I’ll get my own smart thermostat one day, when I move into my very own home.
