I went to visit my mother this past weekend and it was really relaxing.
My husband and I drove 3 hours north to her house with our baby girl, and we had absolutely nothing planned.
It was a wonderful feeling to get away without the hustle and bustle of our normal life. While we were visiting my mother, we stayed in the designated guest bedroom on the lower level while our daughter slept in the office on the second floor inside her pack-and-play. We used to keep her in the same room with us, but we find that the guest bedroom gets really hot. No matter what we set the thermostat to, the guest bedroom is always significantly warmer than all the other areas of the house. There’s a single air vent in the room, and it feels like the cool air is never pumping into the room. My mother doesn’t understand why that room is always warmer either, but she assumes it’s because the doors are really insulated. Like most people, we sleep with the door closed, so there’s no air coming in through the hallway. The only hope we have for air is through the single air vent, which never seems to be working. Our daughter doesn’t sleep well in warm spaces, so it wasn’t ideal for us to keep her in the guest bedroom with us. The office is upstairs, which is it’s own separate HVAC zone. We can set the thermostat to the perfect temperature and it’s consistent throughout all the rooms, unlike the guest bedroom downstairs.
