I Needed a New Air Handler

Our swimming pool is right next to the outdoor condenser unit.

For the most part, the humming that comes from the AC running inside the house doesn’t bother me.

Every summer, I grow to enjoy the comfort of the sounds coming from the outside condenser unit. Halfway into the summer, I rarely notice the condenser unit running. Two weeks ago though, I noticed the condenser unit running more often than normal. The equipment sounded like it was running hard in order to keep up, but it sounded like it was going to explode. I didn’t know what to do, so I shut down my HVAC system entirely and called the emergency HVAC line. I told them about my concerns with the condenser unit and how it sounded horrible, so they agreed to send an HVAC professional over right away. When the HVAC professional was done examining my HVAC system, he told me that I needed a new air handler. An air handler was responsible for keeping my HVAC system running smoothly and efficiently, and without it, the outside condenser unit had to work harder. The condenser unit had sounded so horrible because it was working too hard in order to cool my entire house. The HVAC professional said that it was a good thing I’d turned off my HVAC system entirely and called someone right away. The situation could’ve been much worse had I waited. The HVAC professional was able to install a brand new air handler that afternoon and my AC was running again before I went to bed.
